About

Welcome to a magical experience at the Emanuel Vigeland Museum with its fantastic acoustics and atmosphere. The gong is a very special instrument, rich in overtones. It produces sounds most have never heard the likes of before, and can provide an experience of being in a timeless state.

The gong can seem relaxing, cleansing, and healing to the body's energy system. Various gongs are used, with a large symphonic gong as the main instrument. Between gong play, Circles of Sound use instruments such as vocals, flute, harp, shruti, guitar, didgeridoo, and Tibetan singing bowls. It becomes a powerful and beautiful experience!

Grethe Midgaard Torrissen is a gong player and singer. She has studied under some of today's greatest gong masters such as Mehtab Benton and Don Conreaux. Frans Hamer is a musician and multi-instrumentalist from the Netherlands. He plays the flute, harp, guitar, and didgeridoo, works as a sound therapist, and provides meditative sound journeys. Together, they form the duo "Circles of Sound". The concert is meditative, and you lie down during the performance (though sitting is also possible).

NB! Please bring warm clothes and a good mattress or sleeping bag, along with a warm blanket. It is relatively cold in the Emanuel Vigeland Museum. We adhere to the current guidelines for cultural events regarding the coronavirus situation. Space is limited. It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance as these concerts usually sell out.
