About

One patient. Two doctors. A psychological power struggle. In BLUE/ORANGE, a battle over truth, diagnosis and control reveals how healthcare can reflect society’s deepest prejudices.

How do words manipulate, confuse and create chaos? Where is the line between care and power? This gripping and provocative drama challenges perceptions and demands reflection. BLUE/ORANGE takes place in a London psychiatric hospital, where a patient has reached the end of a 28-day detention and is eager to go home. However, the patient insists that oranges are blue and that his father is Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. The patient’s psychiatrist, believes further care is needed and seeks guidance from a senior consultant, who argues for discharge, citing the hospital’s lack of available beds. This tension sets the stage for a gripping exploration of mental health, authority and the fine line between care and control. Prepare for a drama that won’t let go.

BLUE/ORANGE is directed by Terese Mungai-Foyn and is her debut as a theatre director.

The play is performed in English / Teaterstykket spilles på engelsk.
